A Taste of Mexico on the Santa Monica Pier
Mariasol is a popular Mexican restaurant and “sunset cantina” located on the Santa Monica Pier. The restaurant is known for its authentic Mexican cuisine, lively atmosphere, and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
History of Mariasol
In 1983 storms hit the west coast and caused major damage to west end parts of the Santa Monica pier. This sparked a restoration project to save the pier that lasted over ten years. Part of that project was the construction of the building that houses Mariasol.
In 1994 the Camacho family open the Mariasol restaurant. The restaurant was named after Mr. Camacho’s only daughter, Maria Luisa. The business has continued to operated as a family business and Mr. Camacho and his son Don Luis have continued to grow the operation by opening Camacho’s Cantina at Universal CityWalk and El Paseo Inn and at Olvera Street.
