In 1983 storms hit the west coast and caused major damage to west end parts of the Santa Monica pier. This sparked a restoration project to save the pier that lasted over ten years. Part of that project was the construction of the building that houses Mariasol.

In 1994 the Camacho family open the Mariasol restaurant. The restaurant was named after Mr. Camacho’s only daughter, Maria Luisa. The business has continued to operated as a family business and Mr. Camacho and his son Don Luis have continued to grow the operation by opening Camacho’s Cantina at Universal CityWalk and El Paseo Inn and at Olvera Street.

What makes Mariasol Restaurant unique

Mariasol Restaurant is unique in a number of ways.

First, the restaurant is family-owned and operated. Mr. Camacho’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all work at the restaurant, and they are committed to providing their customers with the best possible dining experience.
